Beautiful Places in Langkawi Island

January 18th, 2010

The nightlife on Cenang is one not to be missed, as a lively vibe awakens the folks down the strip of seafood restaurants, bars, beach-bars, and the beach itself! Take a walk down the beach to witness a chilled out bonfire session, which you can simply join. Or take a peek at the souvenir shops to purchase Langkawi holiday memorabilia. The ambience of the night is definitely one to absorb to end a beautiful day of fun in the sun.

One of the local attractions that cannot be missed is the ‘Seven Wells’. It is quite a climb in the heat, but the river runs through a series of shallow pools with a natural rock slide between each – a great ride, until the river plunges over a vertical drop! Other waterfalls make cool places for a picnic and a paddle, and often you have the place to yourself. The International Book Village is an interesting place to visit, even if you are not a book-worm. Set in extensive landscaped gardens along the side of a stream, it is beautiful place for a stroll.

Boat rides offer the very best trips. You can visit the street markets and beaches of Penang on a day trip, or explore the mangroves with a local guide who will put pieces of chicken in the water to attract the magnificent eagles (langs) and brahminy kites which swept down to pluck these tasty treats from the water. Other trips include a three-island tour, culminating in a swim in the freshwater lake on the Island of the Pregnant Maiden, so named for the shape of the mountains! Most peaceful of all is a sunset cruise on a private schooner; a perfect end to a perfect day.

Langkawi Island: Heaven of Food

January 16th, 2010

It is time to eat now. Malaysia is rich with its local foods. There are numerous of local food that you should try. For me, if you come to Malaysia and eat at the five star hotel without trying the local foods, there is no point for you to have vacation here. Go out and try the local foods especially the hawker. Some of them serve the best food in town but make sure they are clean. For your information, Kampung Nelayan Restaurant located in Kuah was featured in Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan( a famous culinary television how). All the seafood is very fresh and the most important part is cheap. This is the most recommended restaurant in Langkawi. So, you definitely have to try their specialities. There are lots of choices. You can find almost any type of cosine here; Thai, Japanese, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Italian and even Russian. Because of its touristic state, island has very good high quality restaurants.

For shopping there are not much choices. You can go to Langkawi Fair which is the biggest shopping mall now. You can find a good supermarket here and lots of shops where you can buy nice souvenirs, furniture etc. Most of the good quality and brand shops are here. There is also Langkawi Parade at the west entrance of the town. It’s the poorer version of Langkawi Fair. But it has a large supermarket at the bottom floor where you can find lots of goods. Other than these malls you can go to Trimula to buy mobile phones, some electronics and house accessories like curtains, window blinds.

Before you decide on what to sightsee on the island, be sure to check out the modes of transportation which you will require to get from point A to B. Once you have thought about this you can comfortably plan to visit the Langkawi attractions!

Needless to say, the beaches are a number one drawing feature for visitors to Langkawi as it is most likely to be the main reason for a trip to the island. The next best feature is its tax-free status, where booze, cigarettes and confectionery can be purchased at a much cheaper price than on the island. A popular tourist destination, the Oriental Village at Pantai Kok is a stunning man-made cultural segment which sees Japanese houses and technically oriental inspired shops and restaurants. A children’s favourite here is the petting zoo where hundreds of rabbits and baby rabbits hop around. You can buy a bag of pet feed to give the fluffy friends a nibble. The highlight here is the cable car ride up the Gunung (Mount) Mat Cincang. Upon reaching the peak sets you up with the finest view of the vast ocean that surrounds the island. It is a view like no other and is a rather magnificent backdrop for a photo moment.

And the availability of numerous comfortable accommodations adds even more to the prominence of this small yet comprehensive Island.

One of the most important aspects (accommodation) of travelling is completely fulfilled by arrangements on this Island. Besides several recreational activities and water sports and natural prosperity, staying at the destination is one of the main concerns of visitors. Langkawi is a place that will never disappoint you in this regard. Although the Island is small, there is no lack of finest hotels and resorts.

Langkawi Hotels are in no way inferior to many other world class hotels. They are rich in all sorts of modern amenities and provide wonderful services. These excellent accommodations undoubtedly enhance the splendour of Langkawi Island. Their role in attracting more and more visitors from all across the globe cannot be ruled out. Each of the hotels offers complete relaxation. And it is not that they all are out of your budget. You can easily get the accommodation that suits to your budget. Datai Hotel, Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort, Eagle Bay hotel constitute the list of beautiful hotels on the Island. Also there are no public transports, if you want to go around, you always need a taxi. It’s very easy to find a good deal for a small car or with a little more budget a Perodua jeep.
